UK to object to SO2 limit for coal-fired boilers

The Government has confirmed that it will press for a relaxation of a sulphur dioxide emission limit for new medium-sized coal-fired boilers which was proposed by the European Commission in January. But its demands, which are intended to preserve most of British Coal's share in this market, are set to be opposed by other Member States.
