Survey raises fears about soil pollution by petrol stations

The concern prompted in April by Shell's announcement that one-third of its petrol stations have caused soil or groundwater contamination (ENDS Report 219, pp 4-5 ) has been reinforced by a new study identifying almost 300 petrol leaks and spills which have caused ground contamination in England and Wales.
