Telecoms firm faces £20,000 oil spill bill

Telecommunications company Hutchison 3G was given an absolute discharge on 26 January for its part in an oil spill which threatened drinking water supplies for more than 500,000 people. However, Kendal magistrates ordered the company to pay Environment Agency costs amounting to almost £20,000.
