ICI and Northumbrian Water ponder joint clean-up of Tees

Two of the major polluters of the river Tees, ICI and Northumbrian Water, have initiated detailed studies to assess ways of meeting improved water quality targets in its lower stretches. The favoured option is to combine effluent from ICI's Wilton site with sewage at a joint biological treatment works, at a cost of tens of millions of pounds.
