Weak renewables obligation proposed for Northern Ireland

The Northern Ireland Office is consulting on proposals for a renewables obligation with much lower targets than the existing obligations in Great Britain. It has also issued a strategic energy framework which promises annual 1% cuts in electricity use from 2007, along with support mechanisms for combined heat and power (CHP) and energy efficiency.
