DoE wrestles with IPC definition for chemical processes

The Department of the Environment (DoE) has proposed revisions to the definition rules for chemical processes in an attempt to clarify the application of integrated pollution control (IPC) to the industry.1 The most significant effect would be to allow complex, multi-stage processes to be covered by one authorisation. The consultation exercise has forced the DoE to push forward by three months the deadline for IPC applications to be submitted for many existing chemical processes.
