Guide on chimney heights extended to most industrial processes

The first official guide for 12 years on the calculation of stack heights to ensure adequate dispersal of air pollutants has been issued by HM Inspectorate of Pollution (HMIP).1 The guidance will apply for the first time to emissions from non-combustion sources. But the calculation methods used continue to be hampered by the lack of official guidelines for acceptable levels of most air pollutants.
