£2,400 fine for sewer pollution

A Midlands metal treatment company has been fined £2,400 for causing what the Severn-Trent Water Authority describes as the worst pollution it has experienced. Wolverhampton magistrates imposed the fine, together with £400 costs, on MED Ltd on 23 April after convicting the company of 16 pollution charges brought for the infringement of discharge consent conditions during five days in January 1980.
