Market prospects for waste-derived composts

Composts produced from mechanically separated domestic wastes may have limited markets because of their metal and glass content and high conductivity, a five-year research programme at Warren Spring Laboratory (WSL) has concluded.1 But composts produced from source-separated organics should meet even the more exacting standards for use as high-value growing media.
