Theresa May has announced a new ‘northern forest’ of 50 million trees to stretch between Hull and Liverpool, as part of the imminent 25-year plan

A major new ‘northern forest’ stretching from Liverpool to Hull is to be planted as part of DEFRA’s long-awaited but imminent 25-year environment plan.

Over the next 25 years, 50 million trees will be planted along 120 miles of the M62 corridor, according to Theresa May, who jointly announced the project with environment secretary Michael Gove on 7 January.
