Government has work to do to ease doubts over environmental ambition

The content of forthcoming consultations and strategies will reveal whether there is substance behind the vision outlined in the 25-year plan

So was it worth the wait?

Last week, environment secretary Michael Gove finally delivered the government’s much-anticipated and much-delayed 25-year environment plan. It feels a long time ago that the plan was first mooted, in the Conservative Party’s 2015 general election manifesto, probably because it is a long time ago. And more than a year has now passed since the end of 2016, the date by which DEFRA had promised to develop the plan.
