Farmland dumping scheme leads to £109,000 bill for haulage firm

The unpermitted tipping of thousands of tonnes of construction waste at four Devon farms has landed a haulier with a major bill

The Environment Agency has prosecuted a haulier and site clearance company for dumping thousands of tonnes of soil and stone at farms in Devon.

Sitting at Exeter Crown Court on 15 January, Judge Geoffrey Mercer QC fined CC Haulage & Sons £14,000 with £5,000 in costs. He also imposed a £90,000 confiscation order to retrieve the family-owned firm’s criminal gains.
