As its name suggests, the government’s 25-Year Environment Plan looks to the far future. But does the flagship strategy have enough to say about the present?

The 25-year plan, published on 11 January, promises a series of consultations, including on the role of a proposed environment watchdog and a new set of environmental principles to underpin policymaking. Other strategies will flow from the plan, including on nature, clean air and chemicals.
