The news of China’s changing policy on receiving plastic waste from overseas has helped awaken public opinion to the realities of the UK’s own waste situation. Have we really been shipping 500,000 tonnes of plastic to China every year? A change in public attitude and awareness of the issue will be crucial in the coming years to boost support for alternative approaches to tackling large volumes of plastic waste.
