Devon dairy farm prosecuted for ‘chronic and continuing’ pollution

A dairy farm in north Devon has been prosecuted after it was found to have caused pollution in a nearby stream, with ammonia levels almost 100 times higher than healthy levels

The owners of a Devon dairy farm have been ordered to pay more than £14,000 in fines and costs for polluting a stream with effluent.

Dallyn’s Dairy Ltd was fined £6,666 and ordered to pay £7,416 costs by Barnstaple magistrates on 30 January after pleading guilty to polluting the Colam Stream near Muddiford in Barnstaple.
