Official figures show reductions in NOx and SO2 emissions

Latest government statistics show drop in UK emissions of nitrogen oxides and sulphur dioxide, but ammonia emissions continue to rise

Emissions of nitrogen oxides and sulphur dioxide in the UK saw double-digit percentage falls between 2015 and 2016, although ammonia emissions continue to rise, according to latest official figures.

DEFRA’s national statistics on annual sulphur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs), ammonia (NH3); and particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5) emissions were published on 15 February.
