BEIS admits projections for future fracking activity are ‘out of date’

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has admitted that its projections of the number of shale gas wells to be drilled in 2025 and 2030 are out of date. In a written answer to a parliamentary question asked by Green MP Caroline Lucas, minister of state for energy and clean growth Claire Perry said that previous estimates, based on 2016 data, estimated that there could be around 155 wells by 2025.
