Pine marten predation may benefit red squirrel populations

Predation by pine martens seems to have a beneficial effect on populations of red squirrels. Research by the University of Aberdeen found that where pine marten populations are growing, it has a negative effect on grey squirrels populations, to the benefit of the reds.
