The way that the UK’s administrations have implemented EU rules on medium-scale combustion units has added complexity to the regime and raised the prospect of double regulation in some instances. Gareth Simkins investigates

Industry has some concerns about the prospect of double regulation under DEFRA’s implementation of the EU Medium Combustion Plant Directive (MCPD) in England and Wales. Meanwhile, a disparate and potentially confusing array of opt-outs and add-ins has been implemented by administrations across the UK.
