Four-year phase-in mooted for Glasgow’s low emission zone

Glasgow’s low emission zone would not take full force until 2023, according to proposals floated by its city council which critics have labelled ‘incoherent’

Glasgow's low emission zone is set to apply to a smaller area and be rolled out more slowly than anticipated.

Only a fifth of Glasgow’s buses would need to meet the requirements of Glasgow’s low emission zone (LEZ) when it enters into force, according to plans to be put to councillors. It also sets a long timeframe for other vehicles to be introduced to the scheme.
