Pollution released from Nissan’s Qashqai is so great that the model will be unlawful for sale next year, according to a government study.

The revelation came in the first report from the Vehicle Market Surveillance Unit, an arm of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency formed in the summer of 2016 in the wake of the dieselgate scandal. Its function is to check that vehicles and automotive products comply with legal obligations, particularly relating to emissions control.
