A controversial prohibition on methanol in windscreen washing and defrosting fluid is to enter force in a year’s time.

According to a European Commission Regulation published on 19 April (and corrected a few days later), such products may not be placed on the single market after 9 May next year, unless the concentration of methanol is no more than 0.6% by weight.
