European Commission sends UK to court over failure to tackle air pollution

The European Commission has referred six governments, including the UK, to Europe’s highest court for failing to take adequate measures to tackle air pollution

The European Commission has referred six governments, including the UK, to Europe’s highest court for failing to take adequate measures to tackle air pollution.

The six member states –  France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Romania and the UK – have been sent to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) for failing to respect agreed air quality limits and  not taking appropriate measures to reduce exceedance periods.
