The European Commission has called on the UK to correctly transpose parts of a directive intended to ensure the responsible and safe management of spent nuclear fuel and radioactive waste.

In a statement issued last week, the EU executive said it had decided to send letters of formal notice to nine member states – including the UK – β€œfor failing to correctly transpose certain requirements of the Spent Fuel and Radioactive Waste Directive”.
