Environment Agency warns of looming water resource crisis

England must reduce its water use and wastage or face “significant supply deficits by 2050”, the Environment Agency (EA) has warned.   

The agency highlights unsustainable abstraction, leakage (more than 3,000 million litres per day) and demand from industry and the public as the main pressures on water supply in the EA’s first major report on water resources, published today.
