EU Council issues final approval for circular economy package

EU member states yesterday approved a package of legislation setting binding targets on waste and recycling, which form a key part of the EU ambitions for a more circular economy.

EU member states yesterday approved a package of legislation setting binding targets on waste and recycling, which form a key part of the EU ambitions for a more circular economy.

The EU Council says the new rules – based on the commission's proposed circular economy package presented in December 2015 – “will help to prevent waste and, where this is not possible, significantly step up recycling of municipal and packaging waste”.
