1. Gove accuses Treasury of 'shortsightedness' over green watchdog plans
Environment secretary Michael Gove has accused chancellor Philip Hammond of attempting to sabotage his quest for a green Brexit, according to press reports. In a letter written on Thursday, leaked excerpts of which were published by the Telegraph, Gove blamed Hammond for the government’s defeat last week in the Lords, which saw peers pass amendments to the EU (Withdrawal) Bill that would require key environmental principles to be retained in primary legislation.
