Reduce collection frequencies to meet recycling targets, says ESA

Most councils could still meet recycling targets if they reduced the frequency of collections, according to a report from the Environmental Services Association (ESA).

ESA says reducing the frequency of waste collections will enable local authorities to make the savings for measures such as public awareness campaigns.

The document, published today, found that over half of councils would be able to meet the target of 60% recycling at no additional cost if they were willing to make the necessary changes to their services.
