A Lincolnshire-based turf supplier has been fined £4,500 for setting light to its rubbish.

County Turf Ltd, based in Appleby, just east of Scunthorpe, pleaded guilty before Grimsby Magistrates' Court after admitting to the unauthorised disposal of controlled waste in a manner likely to cause pollution of the environment or harm to human health, in breach of section 33 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990. District judge Daniel Curtis imposed costs of £819 and a victim surcharge of £170.
