Oil and gas firm IGas has lodged an appeal against a local authority’s decision to refuse an application to restart one of its exploratory gas wells in Cheshire on climate change grounds.

The 0.9 hectare site in Ellesmere Port was first granted planning permission for two boreholes in 2010 to test for coal bed methane.
