Thames Water to pay £120m for leakage failures

Water regulator Ofwat has confirmed Thames Water will have to pay a swingeing bill after not doing enough to tackle leaks from its pipes.

Following a period of consultation, the body announced yesterday that the UK’s largest water utility would have to pay back £65m to its customers. Other payments and penalties bring the total up to £120m. It was initially announced in June.
