The Environment Agency’s reluctance to act in enforcing the waste hierarchy raises questions over whether the UK is currently compliant with the EU’s Waste Framework Directive, says Peter Jones

Fashion company Burberry has recently announced that it will end its controversial practice of incinerating excess stock, rather than discounting, donating or recycling it. That’s to be welcomed – but their voluntary action leaves us little clearer about the waste management obligations that companies have.
