The Environment Agency (EA) has extended a temporary relaxation of rules on waste wood which it introduced last year.

In a Regulatory Position Statement (RPS) published last year, the agency said mixed waste wood will temporarily be classified as non-hazardous if it ends up as panel board or in compliant boilers.

It was published to allow the EA and the Wood Recyclers’ Association (WRA) time carry out an investigation into how mixed waste wood should be assessed and handled at all stages of the waste wood supply chain.
