Treasury ‘must get out of the way’ of green progress, says MP

The “overweening” Treasury is blocking investment in the green economy due to short-term financial considerations, the Labour Party’s annual conference has been told.

The “overweening” Treasury is blocking investment in the green economy due to short-term financial considerations, the Labour Party’s annual conference has been told.

Anneliese Dodds, member of parliament for Oxford East, was speaking at a packed event organised by Labour-aligned green group SERA yesterday evening. The rally was held to celebrate ten years since the Climate Change Act was agreed and the launch of the party’s new environmental policy paper a day earlier.
