David Rutley, a government whip and lord commissioner of the Treasury, has become DEFRA minister for Brexit readiness, the department announced yesterday.

The new post also covers animal welfare, forestry, climate change adaptation and the food chain, including leading on the government’s food and drink industrial strategy.
