DEFRA has rejected suggestions that the UK under-reports numbers of contaminated sites to the European Commission.

An assessment by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), published yesterday, stated that the UK showed a “low number of sites… where it would be expected to be higher due to [its] industrial past”.
