‘Uncooperative’ waste boss banned from company directorship

The former owner of a shuttered waste firm has been disqualified from being a company director for seven years after he failed to explain £500,000 worth of suspicious bank transfers and cash withdrawals

The former owner of a shuttered waste firm has been disqualified from being a company director for seven years after he failed to explain £500,000 worth of suspicious bank transfers and cash withdrawals.

Liverpudlian Lee Smith, former director of Smith Waste and Recycling Ltd, also received a 28-week suspended prison sentence and is required to perform 250 hours of unpaid work. Liverpool Crown Court awarded Insolvency Service prosecutors costs of £8,901.
