Tories to set out further measures to boost housebuilding

Communities secretary James Brokenshire will use his speech to the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham later today to announce measures to boost the delivery of new homes, including new guidance to speed up the process of building new settlements.

In his speech, Brokenshire will pledge to give councils “greater powers to deliver the garden communities of the future”. ENDS understands that the government is to introduce new guidance intended to speed up the process of building new settlements, providing new town development corporations with compulsory purchase guidance in order to create certainty for promoters, investors, infrastructure providers, landowners and local communities.
