FoE threatens legal action over NI diesel test failure

Friends of the Earth has said it is considering taking legal action following the revelation that diesel emissions are not being assessed in MOT tests in Northern Ireland.

Tests on diesel cars were suspended in 2006 and have not been reintroduced, according to a BBC investigation, even though a ‘smoke meter’ must be used by law. The failure means that the most polluting vehicles in the province have not been taken off the road or fixed, as they should have been.
