Water discovery hinders fracking testing at Balcombe

An unexpected high-pressure water zone at the Balcombe fracking exploration site limited testing, the site operator has confirmed.  

A seven-day run at the Balcombe fracking exploration site in West Sussex, allowed site operator Angus Energy to run two extraction tests.

Balcombe-2z well produced 853 barrels of oil per day and 1,587 barrels of oil per day, during separate test runs.

But an unexpected amount of water limited its testing abilities, the company confirmed.
