Square Mile backs zero emission goal

The City of London Corporation has unveiled its first transport strategy, including ambitious policies to cut air pollution and replace the current congestion charge

Among the draft proposals, published on Wednesday, is support for the mayor of London’s plans for a zero emission zone covering the city centre. The corporation wants to see the zone phased in, so that 90% of motor vehicles entering the Square Mile are zero-emission capable by 2030, likely to be achieved through access restrictions and charging non-compliant vehicles.
