DEFRA and the REACH competent authority are developing the UK’s policy position on identifying persistent, mobile, toxic and very persistent, very mobile substances under EU chemicals regulation, delegates at the UK Chemicals Stakeholder Forum have heard.

The Germany federal environment agency (UBA) made a proposal on implementing criteria for these substances, which pose a hazard to sources of drinking water, in May 2017. It updated the proposal in October 2017 to include a category for very persistent, very mobile substances (vPvM) after feedback from industry and member states.
