One country after another is seemingly determined to close its doors on waste imports from the UK

A worldwide recycling crisis began unfolding in January when China announced a ban on a raft of imports including plastic packaging and unsorted mixed paper. In April it extended the ban and Vietnam followed suit over the summer, announcing the country would not issue new import licenses for paper, plastic, metal and other waste. Last week Thailand announced it would also stop accepting other countries’ plastic waste by 2021.
