Huge Scottish wind farm clears legal hurdle

A 103-turbine wind farm with total capacity of up to 457 megawatts will be built on 8,000 hectares of croft land in Shetland, after its promoters secured the backing of the Scottish Land Court.

In September, the Scottish Land Court formally agreed that the scheme had satisfied all requirements of Section 19A of The Crofters (Scotland) Act 1993, although details of the case have only now emerged. Law firm Gillespie Macandrew acted for the applicants.
