Natural England and the Greater Manchester Combined Authority have backed a project to create biodiversity net gain guidance.

The principle of biodiversity net gain was broadened in July’s update to the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) to include a wider ‘environmental net gain’, but the document failed to include a clear definition of the terms. It also features in the government’s 25-Year Environment Plan, published in January.
