Scotland’s landfill ban on biodegradable municipal waste may just shift the problem

The true implications of Scotland’s plan to ban biodegradable municipal waste (BMW) from landfill in 2021 emerged this week when an industry trade body revealed the Scottish government was making contingency plans to deal with around 950,000 tonnes of waste “with nowhere to go”.
