Michael Gove ‘offered Brexit secretary role’

Environment secretary Michael Gove has been offered the position of Brexit secretary following Dominic Raab’s resignation this morning, according to reports, but the prime minister Theresa May says she has not made an appointment yet

Environment secretary Michael Gove has been offered the position of Brexit secretary following Dominic Raab’s resignation this morning, according to reports.

Raab quit this morning following the cabinet’s agreement yesterday on the text of a draft agreement with the EU on the terms of the UK’s exit from the bloc. Raab said that the draft deal is “damaging for the economy but devastating for public trust in our democracy” in a post-resignation interview.
