The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) has set out its plans for how civil sanctions will be imposed on the oil and gas industry.

The consultation guidance for the Offshore Civil Sanctions Regulations 2018 opened on Tuesday. It comes late considering that the law entered into force on 1 October and the Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning (OPRED) was empowered to impose sanctions against new offences from 1 November.
