A meeting between energy minister Claire Perry and shale gas companies Cuadrilla, INEOS, iGas and Third Energy was not recorded on official logs because she merely “dropped in”, according to the minister.

Speaking during a parliamentary debate on fracking this week, shadow business and energy minister Barry Gardiner asked Perry why a meeting in May with four fracking companies had not been recorded on the ministerial register. A meeting earlier that day with renewable energy companies had been recorded according to the rules, he pointed out.
