The Environment Agency (EA) faces a judicial review over its permitting of wastewater treatment at Cuadrilla’s fracking site in Lancashire.

In a hearing at the High Court yesterday, Friends of the Earth sought permission to challenge the permit, arguing that the EA has not fulfilled its “legal duty to promote the best available techniques for reducing the environmental impact of fracking” with regard to the treatment of flowback fluid.
